It’s early and it’s a long season, but last season’s eastern champs look as advertised, so far this season. The biggest question going into the season would be how long it would take all the new players to get on the same page and start gelling as a team? The answer: 1 game. The Magic are averaging 113 points and 24 assists per game. The only cause for concern has been Vince Carter’s ankle and that didn’t even slow the Magic down as they dropped 125 on the Raptors. Carter seems to think his ankle injury isn’t too bad, so hopefully he’ll back in the line up soon. Speaking of Vince Carter, he’s shooting 55% from the floor and 62.5% from 3 point land. Carter probably won’t keep that up, but having Dwight Howard in the paint is giving him open looks all day. Getting out of New Jersey had to be one of the greatest days of his career.
Howard has yet again taken his game up a notch. Last season he averaged 20 points and almost 14 rebounds a game, so far this season he’s averaging 21 points and 16 boards a game. In his second game of the season he pulled down 22 boards against the Nets. This kid is a freak and nobody can contain him right now. I’m patiently waiting for November 11th, so I can watch Howard show the world how slow, fat and old Shaq really is. Until then some games to mark on your calendar are:
November 4th vs the Suns. Could be a track meet now that the Suns are running again.
November 8th vs the Thunder. Kevin Durant is an up and coming stud and it will be fun to watch him play.
I’m just happy the Magic are doing well, because it’s hard being a Bucs fan right now.
