Gear Up For Magic Basketball

Magic Land Vince Carter on Draft Day

It was looking like a quiet draft day for the Magic, since they had no picks, but even with no picks they still land a top player on draft day.

Nets vs. Wizards

The Magic send Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee and Tony Battie to the Nets for Vince Carter and Ryan Anderson and I like it. Courtney Lee is going to be a stud and I’m sad he’s moving on, but moving Rafer Alston had to be done. With Jameer Nelson coming back next season as the starter I don’t think Alston could every play well as the back up. I appreciate what Rafer Alston did all season long and I think they should have handled the finals differently with the point guard position, but you can’t take two chicks to the Prom. I guess you can, but there’s probably going to be a cat fight and it’s not going to work out in the hotel room like you envisioned. Tony Battie had some nice stretches, but I’m not shedding any tears over him.

Vince Carter gives the Magic a go to guy and a player that can create a shot on his own. He averaged almost 21 points per game and that number could go up a bit with Dwight Howard in the paint. He’s 32 and you know dude wants to win and this will be his last shot at winning a championship or maybe a few of them.

Hedo Turkoglu can opted out of his contract and become a free agent, but hopefully he’ll stay on for next season. OMG that’s a sick starting five of Dwight Howard at center, Jameer Nelson at the point, Vince Carter at shooting guard, Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu at the fowards. If the Magic can resign Marcin Gortat that would give them Mickael Pietrus and JJ Redick off the bench.

The season just ended, but I’m ready to get it started again.

In other news the Cleveland Cavaliers landed a slow, fat, often injured center named Shaq on draft day. The Cavs think he can bang and contain Dwight Howard, maybe he can bang, but never contain Howard. Shaq brings more drama and ego than game at this point in his career. The Cavs might as well try and get Marbury and Iverson, so they can go down faster than the Titanic. The Cavs are going to implode next season and you can kiss Lebron James good bye.
