Orlando Magic vs New New Orleans Hornets in New Orleans

The Orlando Magic clinched a playoff spot last night against a horrible Chicago Bulls team. The Bulls were so bad, I don’t think they would make the field of 65 on Selection Sunday.  But a win is a win and the Magic, even with Dwight Howard spending a lot time on the bench, won the game in dominating fashion.

The bench played very well starting with the Polish Prince. Marcin Gortat went 6 for 8 scored 13 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Tony Battie contributed 18 points on 7 for 11 shooting and Redick dropped in 13 points and played some solid defense.

I loved the minor adjustment I saw with the Magic big men stepping out and double teaming the guard on the pick n roll. It forced the ball inside where the Bulls had zero game.

The Bulls had an awesome “football” game plan for stopping Dwight Howard. I would call it tackle basketball, because they wrapped him up like a Chalupa every time he had the ball in the paint. Dwight please go practice the free throw shooting, because you’ll be a liability down the stretch if you can’t hit them. In 22 minutes Howard still went 6 for 7 and finished the game with 15 points and 9 rebounds. I’ll say it again; MVP.

Oh and by the way with Celtics loss to the Heat, the Magic are only 1.5 games behind them for the second seed. Ya, ya, blah, blah, I know 5 players were not playing for the Celtics. To that I say scoreboard biatches and you better get healthy soon, because Marbury’s 24 minutes and 0 for 6 shooting is clearly not the answer.
